"What have you been up to lately?"

When asked, we send people to this page.
(We’ll be honest: We’re hard at work managing clients and projects, and every minute we spend on this page is a minute we aren’t spending on you. So we update this page on occasion, plus, we don’t like to publicize all our work. Please reach out if you have specific portfolio examples you'd like to see.)

Reporting, annually

Whether herding cats or herding nationally recognized attorneys, we’d like to think we do a fine job at herding. Which was required to pull together this 24-page annual report for a major securities law firm in New York, Washington, and Richmond. We handled a little writing, a lot of design, a ton of editing, and the logistics of printing and delivery into the nation’s most complex shipping destination: Midtown Manhattan. Here’s a sampling — click to the left or right to see other pages.

Taking a forever cruise

We believe a website should tell and show your story, not be filled with fluff that simply serves as bait to get picked up by search engines. Doing that well means you will need writers who will put care into every facet of your organization, meet your people, and then put pen to paper. For Covenant Woods, a senior living community in Hanover County, Virginia, we ensured the site copy reflected the people who call it home. We dined - multiple times - with residents (one of whom called life there like “taking a forever cruise”).

We spoke to the CEO, the head of HR, security guards, chefs and the fine folks who serve the food and keep the place clean. We got to know every aspect of the community, and feel that insensitive summer-long effort is reflected in the ultimate product. That product, by the way, was designed and developed by one of the mid-Atlantic’s premier digital agencies, COLAB.

Investing in animation to save time and money

Working with animator Liz Lukens, voiceover artist Maria Pendolino, and sound artist Paul Schmidt, we scripted and developed an animation for Central Virginia’s largest property manager, Dodson. While the animation is displayed on its public website, the business development team is using the work as part of the prospect-education process to streamline the time required to explain the company’s many offerings - saving minutes and money along the way.

Recent writing projects: Finance, education, golf

Op-eds in mainstream media outlets, or self-publishing on our clients’ own website and digital channels. Recent writing projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Opportunity Zones: We worked with our partners at Virginia Community Capital, helping their bankers and business consultants craft an article that they could self-publish on this new economic development tool. Development of the piece required deep research on a financial tool to understand it and present it in simple terms.

  • We helped a university ghostwrite an article authored by the school’s president, offering insight into the higher education institution’s master planning process and campus construction projects.

  • Working for a national golf brand, we have developed a series of professional journalism-quality stories for sharing on the organization’s digital channels. The stories highlight the brand’s many partner organizations.
